The principal Prof. Dr. Ken Gavin is an active consultant and researcher in geotechnical engineering with significant global experience in the field. Throughout his career Ken has focused on improving design methods and incorporating
research into practice. He has worked closely with owners, clients and certification bodies to deliver savings on foundation systems, critical infrastructure design and risk based management of infrastructure and developed innovative
techniques for condition assessment of civil engineering assets including bridges, tunnels, foundations and earthworks.
He has been lead foundation designer for a number of landmark bridges, basements, roads projects and commercial developments. In the offshore sector in addition to developing design methods for piles he has consulted on pile driveability,
Jack-Up stability analyses at and foundation options at multiple offshore locations. He has undertaken a number of forensic analyses of failures and acted as expert witness in tunneling and offshore projects. Ken has significant
project management experience and has coordinated four EU collaborative projects focused on the effects of climate on transport infrastructure networks and has led and contributed to a number of Joint Industry projects particularly
